Since Secure Kiosk is completely customizable, you can configure and adjust it to exactly fit the requirements of your public access terminals. The Basic Version contains all the functionality you will need to operate a safe and tamper-proof terminal. Additional functions are available as [Plug-Ins]!
 
Basic functions:
  • Integrated Configuration Wizard
  • Multilingual browser layout supports the languages:

  • The download manager helps you keep control of all the files your users download to your system. The download manager knows about the origin and size of the files as well as about where and for how long the files are supposed to be stored.
  • Freely designable Start Page/Home Page
  • Favorites option to add and organize URLs (Screenshot)
  • Secure automatic logon/logout (when terminal is not in use) via dialup connection (Modem/ISDN) (Screenshot) or LAN
  • Printing Web pages (screenshot) directly from the terminal; paid printing can be configured securely using the Payment Bundle.
  • Create and send E-Mails in Rich Text Format with the integrated E-Mail client

  • Receive E-Mails (screenshot) through gateways
  • Logout button protects user privacy by erasing user's surfing activities after session has ended (cookies, history, and temporary Internet files)
  • Freely customizable search engine
  • HTML Screen saver / attraction mode to increase security when terminal is not in use
  • Keyboard keys can be remapped. You can, for example, configure the F1 key to browse to a certain Web page
  • Access can be restricted to certain URLs and HTML pages
  • Optional display of HTML pages in fullscreen mode and/or without address bar
  • Multi-Monitor Support allows for the use of an additional monitor on which you can display further information or advertisements
  • Run applications (Screenshot) directly from within an HTML page
  • Automatic termination of an application after an adjustable period of time without user activity
  • Extensive, built-in online Help menu
  • Modern install and uninstall wizard

 

Security features:
  • Support for JavaScript, Java, VB Script, ActiveX components can be turned on or off
  • For users of Windows 2000 and Windows XP, Secure Kiosk ships with a 'Security Manager' which makes it possible to create a limited user account and administrate access rights
  • JavaScript error messages will automatically be suppressed
  • System-critical key combinations such as Ctrl-Alt-Del can be blocked for all operating systems, in particular during bootup
  • You can load Secure Kiosk instead of the Windows shell to prevent users from accessing the operating system during bootup
  • If the system is booted in safe mode, Secure Kiosk will automatically perform a reboot

  • CD-ROM door access can be prevented
  • Destructive script functions on Web pages will be detected and neutralized.
  • You can optionally allow or prevent the download and saving of files from the Internet
  • Each dialog box (Screenshot) can be blocked individually
  • After several unauthorized attempts to manipulate the system, the terminal will be switched to tilt mode (Screenshot), blocking all entries for 30 seconds
  • Accessing the system is only possible by entering your individual Password

 

Maintenance functions:
  • You can automatically shutdown Secure Kiosk at specific times and/or have Secure Kiosk perform an automatic reboot
  • When the terminal is not in use, Secure Kiosk can automatically clear the history and erase all cookies and temporary Internet files
  • System surveillance (Software Watchdog) monitors the status of the software and will restart Secure Kiosk should it encounter any problems
  • A memory manager monitors memory usage

  • Automatic start functions will automatically launch all the maintenance tools listed in the registry at startup
  • Automatic execution of the Windows logon process
  • Cache/Cookies as well as all temporary Internet files can be automatically deleted when Secure Kiosk is launched or the terminal is not in use (Logout function)

 

Secure Kiosk Object Model:
  • First introduced in Secure Kiosk 5.0, the Secure Kiosk Object Model provides a powerful tool to configure Secure Kiosk and control some of its functions.
